Having just learned of Christopher Hitchens' recent passing, we encourage everyone to pray for the repose of his soul and perhaps have a Mass said for him. The image of St. Dismas, the good thief on the cross side by side with Christ, comes to mind. In our Lord's great mercy, hopefully Mr. Hitchens died a peaceful death and was receptive to accepting the love that God offers to all of his children.
May he and all souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Christopher Hitchens, one of the world's most popular militant atheists, has recently been diagnosed with rapidly progressing cancer of the esophagus. Through this illness it is possible that he could have a profound change of heart and he and all those who follow his irrational and hateful ideas would turn their hearts back to God, their loving Creator. It is our duty as Christians to pray for this man's salvation, no matter what our personal feelings are, or what we may think of his shameful behavior.
One of Christopher Hitchen's favorite people to ridicule and demean with wicked vulgarity is Mother Teresa, the one who made herself the servant to the poorest of the poor. Mother Teresa left a beautiful legacy of Christ-like compassion for the world to see. She held the sick and dying in her arms, no matter what they believed. Certainly, Mother Teresa would have even held Christopher Hitchens in her arms during this life threatening illness he is facing. One can be certain that she is praying for him right now.
To honor Mother Teresa's life long work with the poor, the sick and the dying, a donation will be made to her sisters, the Missionaries of Charity, for each order that is placed for these cards.
