Blessed Mother
Blessed Mother, your soul truly magnifies the Lord, for He who was hidden is now revealed. Concealed in your womb, Christ’s saving blood flowed freely between both of your pure hearts. We see your face, O Mary, in the face of God. O Blessed Lady, you were so attentive to the Divine One that, upon hearing our Lord cry, your milk let down to nourish Him who feeds all creatures. To nurse God at your breast, to be the first to hear Jesus lament, “I thirst,” was your wondrous call, O Mother of God! It was you, O faithful one, who first whispered stories into the ears of the Author of Life. To form speech in the Word of God, to raise prayer from within the heart of the King of Kings, this was your worthy call, O Mother of God! You cradled in your arms He who sustains all things. To caress the face of God, to feel His soft breath upon your skin, this was your magnificent call, O Mother of God! You wiped tears from the eyes of the Divine Consoler. To offer cooing and ceaseless affection, to joyfully sing and laugh with the Prince of Peace, this was your exalted call, O Mother of God! You fed Him when He was hungry; you gave Him to drink when He was thirsty. You wrapped Him in swaddling clothes when He was naked; you cared for Him when He was sick. You welcomed Him as a stranger to this world, and you comforted and understood His imprisonment to our ingratitude; this was your sublime call, O Mother of God! You watched Him grow up like a sapling, like a shoot from the parched earth. To see Him advance in wisdom and favor before God and man, to ponder all these things in your heart, this was your mysterious call O Mother of God! May we honor you, O Mother of Mothers, by heeding your plea to do whatever He says. Ever-Virgin Mary, all generations shall call you blessed.
